I've been eating at Mimis for almost 20 years. This visit was extremely disappointing. Out door dining only at this point and the service was extremely slow. There was 4 tables when we were ready to leave and I had to find the server to pay our bill. I normally get a Benedict or omelet and this visit was no different. I had a Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was broke. Poached eggs over cooked and potatoes under cooked with no flavor. I blame Covid as I've always loved this place.

Utter disappointment!
Ordered a dinner salad, no longer comes with a muffin. Just cold, sliced bread. The dressing had absolutely no flavor. And, we were seated so far in the back, that our server must have forgotten we were even there. Took over 10 minutes, in an empty area for her to come check and see that the salad was not satisfactory.
I haven't been there in a while. And, won't be back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

Lisa I am very concerned to hear you had a poor experience in our restaurant. We try really hard to provide the freshest food and great service to every guest. I would like to talk with you if you have time. We certainly would like to do something to make up for your experience. Have a great day

Easy to get to, right off the 78 freeway, parking lot but many other places in this part of the shopping center.
Menu has plenty of options but there are definitely differences with lunch and dinner, but if you ask they will usually serve a lunch item off of the dinner menu (like the 5 cheese grilled cheese).
Service is usually nice, friendly, and somewhat fast.
If you sign up to receive emails they will send you discount offers, and a free treat for your birthday. This time it was a banana split muffin sundae.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 193292463Nov 12, 2019
Corn chowder soup is all I have to say! Yum! This has been my favorite go to every time I go to Mimi's. On this visit my mom and I split the Cobb salad which was a huge portion and she ordered the tomato basil soup while I of course ordered the corn chowder soup. Everything was exceptional. I'm docking off a star due to my mom soup being lukewarm. There is nothing worse than lukewarm food from a restaurant. You could tell the waitress was getting a little overwhelmed as the night went on as more customers were coming in. It did take a while to get a hold of her. However she was very friendly and brought us everything we needed. The lava cake we had for dessert was so good and was definitely the star of the night.

Denisse I am so sorry to hear your soup was not hot enough. We try hard to ensure our food is always fresh , hot and prepared correctly every time. We would be happy to replace that soup with a free soup on your next visit. Be sure to let the manager on duty know.

Stopped here yesterday for lunch and the food was mediocre but the blinds really worried me. If management doesn't care about something this filthy at each booth there's something seriously wrong with their safety and sanitation standards.
I'm sure there are some serious cleanliness issues in the kitchen and bar area. Not going back to this place anytime soon!
Oh and now they serve tiny pieces of cold bread, no more muffins!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Julie I am so sorry to hear you felt our restaurant was lacking in cleanliness. We do take great pride in how our restaurant looks. We will be addressing the issue of the blinds immediately. I will also make sure each manager takes a tour specifically to notice all of the areas we may not see when rushing around running the restaurant. We need to slow down down and really see what the guests see while eating. Good point well made. We will be addressing it directly. About the bread changes. You are right it is different. A decision made at a higher level. I will make sure to pass along your concerns about the bread. Please have a happy safe holiday season

Oceanside. Our first time. Went here for Sunday breakfast. Special mention to our server Denise. Super friendly & nice. Family truly enjoyed. Big portions for the price. Crayons & coloring paper kept the kids busy while waiting on the food to arrive. Which was pretty fast. Parking was easy & right off the freeway. Place is clean & the love the French ambience. Would definitely be back with my family & friends. The Mimi's Cafe experience was great for the price. Thank you Denise for taking care of us. Salute.

Stopped here for dinner two weeks ago after my friend suggested it. If you ever visited Atlanta, this is very similar to the Cracker Barrel (southern comfort food), but one star above that. The inside of Mimis Café was very nice and we had an outstanding server. He was awesome!
For dinner I had their Roasted Half Chicken with house-made herbes de Provence butter and for sides I had their green beans and garlic spinach. Years back I ate at Wolfgang Puck's Spago out in Beverly Hills and I must say, then chicken here was just as tender as that $50 chicken at Spago. It was slow roasted to perfection.
I would eat here again.

I love Mimi's Cafe! The restaurant is always clean, I've never had to wait for a table, the staff is always professional and the food is always good.
Tonight the hubs and I went for dinner. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated immediately.
With in just a few minutes our waiter (I didn't get his name) took our drink order...Iced tea for the both of us...and asked if we would like a bread basket...yes! Two mini baguettes and two mini banana nut muffins with butter. Mimi's tea is always refreshing, I don't think I've ever ordered anything else...although one day I'm going in for the mimosas!
I had the pick 4...1/2 French dip sandwich with grilled onions, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese; French onion soup; Bacon and Bleu Cheese salad and the chocolate chip bread pudding.
The menu stated they have horseradish by request...I was informed they no longer have creamy horseradish. :( None the less, the sandwich was very good.
The soup was served hot with melted cheese and two large chunks of bread, also very good.
The salad...I was expecting a wedge salad...it was not. However I did enjoy it. Mixed greens with crumbled bleu cheese (a little too much), bacon pieces, tomatoes and strawberry slices. Unfortunately, probably because it was served on the plate with my sandwich, it was a tad warm. I like my salads cold and crisp.
The chocolate chip bread pudding was warm, with whiskey sauce and whipped cream. It was decadent without being too rich. Loved the chocolate bites, and the sauce...if I could have licked the plate, I would have...It was difficult, but I did share.
The hubs had the tuna melt with french fries. He said it was just okay. There was too much celery and the cheese wasn't melted. He said the best part was the bread the tuna was served on. He enjoyed the french fries, said they were hot and crisp.
At some point I signed up for their emails which has turned out to be a good thing...I get BOGO coupons at least once a week. All you have to do is order two drinks and the less expensive meal is free!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 19, 2016
this wasn't lunch -- it was a cautionary tale. MIMI's CAFE is the poster child for why you skip chains and eat at mom and pop places.
really appreciated the basket of tiny baguettes and muffins that arrived soon after we were seated. this is not the kind of place you want to still be hungry when your food arrives.
i ordered the MEYER LEMON MUSSELS and FRITES. for those of you whose high school FRENCH is even rustier than mine, apparently FRITES is FRENCH for greasy, cold, nasty, limp, french-fry like potato thingies -- and they were the favorite part of my meal.
the boy's SEVEN MEATBALLS in TOMATO SAUCE (which i'm pretty sure was a ladle of their creamy, tomato basil soup) was barely touched by the ten-year old who ordered them. he stuck the tip of his spoon in, tasted the sauce and set the spoon back on top of his folded napkin. when i asked about his lunch, he thought about it for a moment, wrinkled his nose and answered "awful" with a noncommittal shrug.
pretty much sums up our experience ...Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Tami L.San Diego, CA934622263May 7, 2020
I'm a fan of breakfast here, it's kind of the only time I'll show up here. My favorite? Brisket hash and eggs - totally delicious! They have a nice menu with lots of options (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Service is generally quick, friendly and food comes out just the way I ordered it. Their fresh juices are tasty as well and they have a few nice options for those.
