Mangia e Bevi is a truly authentic Italian restaurant. The menu was inspired by Tore's grandmother and mother. The same dishes that were prepared for Tore as a child are now recreated for you to enjoy. Mangia e Bevi provides you the same cuisine as if you were sitting at a sidewalk cafe in Italy.

Do you offer gluten free past options?
A:
At this time we do not, but we have pizza and other gluten free items on the menu

Profile says there are vegan options. Does anyone know if their pizza crust and pastas contain egg and/or diary? Thank you!

Gloria, Mangia e Bevi is very sensitive to providing meals to guests that have strict dietary restrictions. We offer many dishes that are vegan or can be made vegan by removing or replacing an ingredient. Our gluten free pizza crust is also vegan… more

Came back with my husband for date night and was definitely wow'd this time around. We will definitely be making this our go-to date night spot and I'm glad we have a spot like this in our neighborhood. If you're from the area and you're looking for good food/vibes and don't want to go to coastal o-side - or you're just in the area highly recommend.
Papadew pizza, rosemary tagliatelle and the apps we had were all amazing! Honestly, can't wait to go back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Sorry we did not meet your expectations.
Aug 13, 2022Previous reviewI had really high hopes for this place based on the reviews but it was just a bit disappointing. We had the cuatro carne pizza, the tortellini, the pappardelle, and the arancini to start. I would recommend trying the arancini and the tortellini if it sounds good to you - wasn't a fan of the sauce on the pizza but the crust was really good and the pappardelle was just meh. Will give it another go to try some other things and report back!

I've been wanting to try this spot for forever. Went last night and ordered the focaccia (if you check in you get free bread service!) and Polpo salad. My roommate got the Carbonara.
The focaccia was so crispy on the outside and had wonderful flavor with WHOLE basil leaves inside??? Brilliant. Freshly baked as well. Absolutely loved it.
Also, hands down, BY FAR, the BEST grilled octopus I have ever had in my life. So tender and buttery, it basically melted in my mouth. (I really couldn't shut up about how good it was during the meal). The octopus paired excellently with the sumac yogurt sauce (I wish there was more sauce!) I also loved the addition of the currants and pickled radish in the salad, (who knew!) Unfortunately, the salad was a little overdressed otherwise the dish was perfect.
Tried my roommates carbonara and must say it was lacking in flavor BUT the bucatini was cooked to perfection and the guanciale was perfectly fatty and salty.
An adorable hole in the wall, quaint Italian restaurant with excellent and friendly service. I will for sure be back!! Can't wait to try more pasta dishes and their pizzas. Obviously I will save room for the cannoli next time too!Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jan 27, 2024Updated review
This restaurant is one of our favorites.
We have been back multiple times since we moved here last Feb.
It's a small cosy restaurant with seating available both inside and outside.
Last night my hubby brought us there to celebrate my birthday.
We were tended to immediately and got our seat immediately as well.
We ordered calamari for starters and then a bottle of sauvignon blanc for drinks. They also brought iced water In a reusable pitcher.
They also do offer bottled water if you prefer.
Calamari was delicious. The batter was light and crispy and it came with marina sauce and another sauce. I loved eating with with both sauces. But loved it even more without any sauce
They have a menu which is seasonal.
And also specials daily.
Last night, my hubby and I ordered off their specials.
I ordered the rock fish with black rice and roasted shishito peppers.
My hubby ordered fillet mignon medium rare and it came with creamy polenta.
Unfortunately, the steak was not done the way he liked. It was burnt on the sides and well done. The host immediately noticed it when he had a look on his face which indicated he did not enjoy it. And immediately offered to cook him another one. And my hubby declined.
My hubby ordered meatballs and spaghetti instead. This was fantastic.
Meatballs were nice and juicy and the spaghetti was al dente - just the quality they always had
It was a one off mistake with the steak and the took it off the bill.
I would have liked dessert here as their tiramisu is fantastic. But unfortunately we were too filled from the delicious food.
This is a fantastic place and will continue to be our go to place. We love it. And still do!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Jun 18, 2023Previous reviewBruschette recipe has been changed. It used to be soft bread with the respective toppings. Its now switched to crispy bread underneath that. I liked both versions but my husband preferred the soft bread version. So if ure like him, check if the bread is going to be crispy or soft.
And ask for the respective.
The cauliflower gnocchi was good. Thin shreds of asparagus and one piece of thinly sliced cauliflower. As well as marinated lemon made this a wonderful light delightful dish.
The cannoli was delish. Yummy crispy shell with cream inside dusted with pistachio dust and chocolate chips inside. Love it
My husband had a carbonate which he swore was the best thing he has ever eaten.
Service is as usual fantastic.

Another fantastic dinner at Mangia e Bevi - thanks, Tore! This was our second time here, and we loved every dish again.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 11, 2024Previous reviewMost authentic Italian in Oceanside, none of that Americanized Italian stuff. Ordered the polpo (octopus), carbonara, and bolognese. Would love to try the wood fired pizza next time.

The food is good, but way over priced. For example we ordered a pizza which is the size of a medium or so and it was $36.00.
But the most ridiculous thing was the veal chop. It only came with a small side of brocholinni. The cost $79.00.
The server was the nicest person and all the staff were friendly and nice. The only reason for a 3 star is the overpriced cost of the food. If you want bread with your meal it will cost you $5.00.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rebecca D.San Marcos, CA23671Mar 15, 2024
To be honest after visiting Italy nothing compares...however, we found this hidden gem tonight and wow was I blown away! We had several appetizers, a pizza and a ravioli, all of which were beyond our expectations. We will definitely be coming back and can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Bon appetite.

I was surprised that Oceanside had amazing Italian restaurants. I stopped in to have a meal before driving back to Los Angeles and got a surprise. What an amazing restaurant greeted by owner and chef. The food was incredible felt like I was home. I ordered the Goat cheese and sausage pizza, grilled octopus and beat salad OMG.

This place was recommended to me by a friend, and it was an unexpected delight on a Wednesday afternoon. I have been dearly missing Siciliy this week, and the food here was just what I needed.
I love that when you ask for water it comes in a bottle like it does in Italy, that is a nice touch. The Carciofi and Polpo were also delicious. I would like to go back and try more of the antipasti.
The pizza was really good, but seemed more Americanized than Italian style but it was tasty enough that I would order it again.
We had ordered gelato as well, that was more the texture of granita than Gelato but it did taste good.
Our server was nice, and knowledgeable about the menu.
The restaurant itself is cute, and has a lot of decor similar to a little restaurant you may find in a small town somewhere in Italy. This is a really cute place, and I will definitely visit here again, as it was quite an enjoyable experience.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I can't tell you how much I enjoy coming here to eat and visit with the friendly staff!
It's a family atmosphere with a great selection of fresh pastas on the menu!
The wine list is extensive as well w knowledgeable staff to help you find the right wine!
I ordered the Amateciana w extra crispy pig cheek! The sauce is bright and scrumptious- enough for dipping the bread!
My wife got chicken ravioli that were very tasty although only warm, not hot.
Same for her friend who's pasta was also only warm.
Lastly, our other guest ordered carbonara! Excellent as always!
For desert cannoli - just ok!
See the picture of my favorite wine! It's back and still a great accomplishment w Italian food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Stephen,
Wow what a great review!!!!! Absolutely a must read!!!! See you soon.
A presto, ToreSep 2, 2021Previous reviewI can't begin to tell you how pleased I was w the food, and service here!
I ordered to-go last week - carbonara that even on take away was amazing! Made w real guanchale!
When I took my wife tonight we both fell in love w the place! From the awesome service from Carrie to the food from the outstanding chef!
The thing is, this place is small, and in a strip mall w a couple of other places. Do not let that fool you! The food prepared here is Italian Sicilian based gourmet!
We got the Mista salad plenty of shaved Parmesan and just the right amount of dressing. It also had three artichoke hearts in a cheesy crust! Yum frigin eeee!!
My wife got a pizza and the hand made crust had a little char from the fired oven at the entrance! It was the Salsiccia (fennel sausage) pizza! Amazing!
I got the Amatriciana in a red sauce w guanchale! This pasta dish made me clap my hands and gave me chills - it was that delicious!
I also had a couple glasses of I'll Grigio Chianti reserva! Lucious is the easiest way to describe this wine that's straight from the Chianti region - including the Black Rooster on the label!
Overall I gave this place five easy stars! Do yourself a favor and find the significant other you want to take to a great dinner, then plug this place in your gps, and go go go!
