Q:
Can reservations be made for Xmas day in 2023?
A:
I don't see, why not, but you would have to call. I also strongly urged you not to go there because the food absolutely sucks.

Their steak was great. We also had great service. The place is small, there is a bar area downstairs.

It's been a while since we dined here last but we made our way back and it was wonderful, as always. The prime rib was tender and had great flavor. Hubby got the tips and enjoyed every bite. All sides and salads were fresh and delicious! And the service is stellar! Very friendly staff that aren't afraid to smile! Dinner was again a pleasure!

Hubby & I had stuffed mushrooms/ shrimp cocktail appetizers, prime rib/filet mignon for dinner. Everything was delicious & plated beautifully! Game out perfectly timed. Shout out to our server, Melissa!

Hunter is a family favorite for the last 25 yrs! Service is consistently good the Table-Side Salad is the reason for our continued patronage. We are very glad it is back post-Covid.
The steak is the way to go and it is done right!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - J R.SoMa, San Francisco, United States08Jan 31, 2024
Great food and drinks in rustic surroundings. The house salad tray awesome and is a reminder of times past.
The seasonal vegetables are terrible, soggy and out of a freezer type. Gotta do better!Restaurant part is a bit boring and tired looking but downstairs bar is great.
Service can be a little hit or miss.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle B.San Diego, United States23111Aug 31, 2023
We went on a Sunday night at 7pm with reservations to celebrate a family members 60th birthday (which we mentioned when making reservation). We were about 15 min late, our fault and we apologized. With that being said, the parking lot was empty.
The hostess started off rude, barely even acknowledging us. As we were waiting for a table, a couple walked up, handed her their menus and said they were leaving. The hostess showed she could care less. The woman came back and told her why they were leaving and again, the hostess did not care. The hotess said something to another employee and he brought us to the darkest table possible and the only table that sits between the hostess stand and kitchen. Nope. Asked for another table. She told us in a rude voice, okay but it'll be a while. Really??? There were 5-6 tables available. By this time, the Manager stopped by the hostess stand and she told them we wanted another table and he said, no problem and we were sat at another table. Needless to say, we should have left. But, it was late and we were hungry. The restaurant was hot and muggy, A/C was not working.
Our server was very nice (I don't have her name). She brought drinks, salad and dinner all in a timely and friendly manner. She was the ONLY bright spot of the night. The prime rib was over cooked, the mixed vegetables mushy and the baked potato had been sitting around. At the end of the meal, they did not bring anytyhing for the birthday (even though another table was brought a dessert and they sang Happy Birthday).
We used to love the Hungry Hunter and Hunter Steakhouse in Mission Valley but this will be last time we ever go to this Hunter Steakhouse. There are too many options around with much better food. I am hopeful that our server applies for another job as she deserves a better working environment!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tonto N.San Diego, United States715719Sep 15, 2023
Been going here for a very long time. Felt bad for them during the pandemic. They seem to be doing better these days. Steak and seafood are the main choice but I always go for the prime rib. Salad made at the table and fresh bread is amazing. I believe the salad dressing is also made onsite. Parking is a bit tight but if you go on Wednesday you will have fewer people and mostly locals. If you can save room for dessert go for it. We cannot eat anything more than the salad, apps and entrees. Steak Neil, porterhouse and prime rib are the standby. Baked potato with all the fixings of your choice are amazing. Old school steak house vibe. If you dare, have a drink in the bar downstairs. It has a reputation of being haunted. Great martinis.
Friendly staff and good food! Back room for large party (birthday, etc) and privacy. Sunday brunch as well. Check the online menu for costs. Not too high.

I went here with my wife and my son, a couple weeks back, and we were not disappointed. I don't know about the rest of you all, but when I go out, I don't expect to be blown away with orgasmic food anymore. However, we did order a couple different things off the menu, and all of them were good.
We did the table side salad, which my son loved because of course it's something fun and different. I did the ribeye, which was seasoned well, but I did add a bit of salt. My wife ordered the prime rib which she said she enjoyed.
We didn't end up getting that lobster or crab because they said they were no longer going to be serving it because of the market prices which I understand because they are getting a bit out of control as well. All in all. I do recommend this place if you're looking for a quieter, low-key steakhouse.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bonnie R.Yuma, United States0195Dec 23, 2023
I was there today and I could hear people complaining about their prime rib being tough and chewy and when I finally got my prune rib, it was the same. I paid $32 for a piece of prime rib. That was tough and chewy. I've been coming here a lot of years, but this is definitely the worst I've ever had here. I am so dissatisfied as a frequent diner to have received this on the day before Christmas Eve. It was horrible and I don't know what to say. You need to look at your reviews there were people complaining in the diner, dining room. I will never go back there again. You have lost what you were supposed to be known for is the best prime rib in town. That's what it says when they answer the phone.
