A great day for #Oceanside!

Chamber CEO, Scott Ashton had the opportunity to meet with high school students from Surfside Educational Academy today to share about the SOCAL Workforce project. He will also give presentations at Oceanside High and El Camino High School this week. Not familiar with SOCAL? SOCAL is a collaborative program between education and industry created by Tri-City Medical Center, the San Diego North Economic Development Council and Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, and Encinitas Chambers of Commerce. The vision is to allow middle school, high school, post-secondary students and transitioning adults to gain insights into career pathways while allowing businesses and local organizations to participate in these students’ career exploration. We kicked off our Spring 2024 session of Oceanside Leadership Academy on Saturday. Special thanks to Dr. Benjamin Gamboa for an amazing job in presenting our Leadership 101 Session and moderating our stellar panel that included Col. Daniel Whitley, Kristen J. Gonzales (Huyck), Ed.D., Councilmember Peter Weiss, Kevin Shin, Jodi Diamond, and Beth Brasher. A shout out to Chamber team members, Tracy Millero-Chin for implementing her vision of making our opening session more interactive, Gwen Bryson for tremendous logistical support, and Sophie Finnigan (a cohort member as well) for lending her marketing and graphic design skills to the project. A huge thanks to Frontwave Credit Union for allowing us to use their meeting space!
