As a proud member of the San Mateo County business community, we recognize that quality child care is critical to the economic health of our county, businesses, and our families. And we are committed to collaborating across the county to create tangible solutions that increase access. We recently welcomed a group of leaders to our South San Francisco campus to discuss the importance of childcare in the county. The discussions highlighted the urgent need for action and collaboration and served as a reminder that creating accessible childcare requires a collective effort. By joining forces and leveraging our shared resources, we can design a future where every child has access to quality care. Learn more here: http://spr.ly/6041jl6QZ

As we wrap up the inaugural National Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Month, we're proud to be recognized by the White House for its commitment to improving access to cancer screenings for its employees. We firmly believe that regular cancer screenings should be accessible to everyone, including our employees and their families. To emphasize the significance of preventive healthcare, we offer financial incentives to our employees in our medical plans, which are up to $325 per year for completing their recommended preventive care, including cancer screenings. These incentives encourage our employees to take proactive steps toward their preventive care. In addition, our medical plans cover 100% of the costs for routine screenings related to breast, cervical, colorectal, and lung cancers. http://spr.ly/6042jPGSO #BidenCancerMoonshot

While innovative therapies developed over the past few decades have helped prevent blindness and maintain quality of life among those living with serious eye conditions, more options are needed to address the distinct challenges of vision loss. To do this, our researchers are focusing on early identification of at-risk patients and even individualized treatments based on eye genetics and biomarkers – with the goal of stopping vision loss before it even occurs. Join our ophthalmology research leaders Chris Brittain and Dolly Chang in S5E02 of our podcast Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar, as they dive deeper into ongoing advances in preventing vision loss: http://spr.ly/6048jGlwn

Last week, we were honored to host a visit from South San Francisco Assemblywoman, Diane Papan and South San Francisco Unified School District Superintendent, Dr. Shawnterra Moore. During their visit, they were able to attend our Gene Academy program and observe South City students in the 3rd through 5th grades build compasses and electromagnets in a fun science experiment. At our company, we believe that children are natural scientists, engineers, and problem solvers, but many students in under-resourced schools do not have access to regular science instruction. That’s why we created Gene Academy, an after-school mentoring program for students to get them excited about science. Learn more about how Gene Academy here: http://spr.ly/6048jH8qg
